Sleep...who needs it? I do damn it!!

I want to sleep like this.
I finished a chapter with a potent dialog between siblings that kept me up all night. It's amazing how character personalities can linger in your head long after the last key strikes. The scene, the dialog, the emotional conflict...I'm a little nervous to proceed...

I'm down to editing the last three chapters of my first draft, changing the ending as I go, definitely adding at least another at the very end. A lot is the same, but the ending has become so much more powerful than I originally created, and so much more personal. Changing the ending is absolutely necessary now, I can't imagine the story ending any other way, but man it's going to be tough. The intensity of the ending has just started and I'm already losing sleep. I can only imagine how much sleep I'll lose in the following chapters.

Has anyone else lost sleep due to your own writing, having been impacted so deeply that you just can't stop thinking about it? Or am I going insane?

I'm fine with insanity, it gives me an excuse to dress like Lady Gaga. :-P

  1. Oh, I can't even tell you how much I lose sleep over it. Doesn't it seem ridiculous? All the time, especially if I write a big, key scene before I go to bed. It keeps playing out in my mind afterwards.
