Celebrate The Small Stuff with Memes

Posted on May 28, 2015
April was filled with A-Z entries, and May was filled with the internet equivalent of radio silence. I was all gung-ho about working on my WIP. Seriously. This was me:

But, that didn't happen. One week off was more like three weeks off. No writing, and loads of other-stuff-doing. I binged on cable tv and got hooked on Rehab Addict, Flip This House, and Keeping Up With The Kardashians. I learned a lot about replacing my hardwood floors and how to handle paparazzi when you get asked about your lip injections.

But it wasn't all a waste. I spent a lot of time with my parents because they love to spoil the heck out of me, and a lot of time running/walking/exercising. Nonetheless, I still felt exhausted, uninspired, and moody. Mostly dreading getting back to working on my WIP.

Until this past weekend. On saturday, my writing flowed out through my fingertips, onto the keyboard, and into story form on the screen. It was like magic...

So now I actually have stuff to celebrate:
  • Wrote up a short essay on my trip to Puerto Rico with my girlfriends for our 40th birthday. I'm so psyched about it. I decided to submit it to a few places. If nothing bites, I will post it here eventually.
  • Worked on the outline for The Onyx Ring, book 2 of the Family Relics series. Story is going to be spectacular! I'm so psyched the way its unfolding.
  • Also, while working with the cover editor, I made a monumental decision. It's been nagging me for a while, whether to title book 1 as Box of Souls or Family Relics. I decided to title it Box of Souls and just kept the series title as Family Relics, which works well since each book title is a particular relic that is pertinent to the story. And now that the artist is mocking it up, it looks fantastic!

So that's it for me this week. I hope your week went well. Please share your victories and woes, and don't forget to visit other bloggers on this blog hop!

    1. I think my brain was fed up with my cable channel choices. Maybe it's a tactic, to dumb your down so it WANTS to start working again. "Surrender, or we're watching The Jersey Shore!" "Nooooo!" :-P

  4. I'm so excited for you! Sometimes you need that down time to re-charge and let the stories percolate in your mind. Yay for the new stories, the essay, and especially the new cover! Nothing's more important than a good cover. Keep up the great work! :)

    1. That last one is my favorite. I was late to the memes game, but now that there are online sites where you can create them easily, I love them!
