Painful memories are to sanity
What a deep gash is to smooth skin.
It heals and is forgotten over time
But a wrong move may sting you from within.
You may not be able to rationalize
Or recall the regrettable event,
But the scar has been set, your fear cemented,
And your reasoning is surely bent.
