Or is it "nerve-racking"? This always confuses me, and I constantly refer to this article to refresh my memory. These little vocabulary puzzles drive me bonkers.
So here I am preparing promo images, social media banner, and setting up emails for my upcoming release of The Onyx Ring. Sales and marketing always gets me uncomfortable, nervous and "insomniatic". (Not a real world, but it conveys what I mean.)
It feels like I'm hassling people, and I hate hassling people. You know when you walk into a furniture store and a salesman walks up to you faking joy in your arrival, hoping to win their weekend party commission out of you. I feel like that salesman. I've never been good as sales, even when I totally believe in the product the way I believe in my book. And I TOTALLY believe in my book.
Did I mention that my brother loved it? He's the most avid sci-fi/fantasy reader I know and he gave it a two thumbs up. (Maybe I should get that in a meme. Hmm....)
But, alas, this is the life of an indie author. We have to push the sale. We have to promote ourselves and our writing no matter how uncomfortable it makes us. Seriously, the writing and editing process is cake compared to this part.
So, here goes....
And if you want to get a hold of book one, here ya go!
Available at Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Smashwords, iBooks,
and wherever books are sold.
Signup to my blog and/or connect with me on social media and I'll keep you posted on other book launch activities. I'm going to put the first book on promo soon to ignite some sales, and give away a few freebies.
And if you've read book one, please leave a review, somewhere. Anywhere! Or pass along the word on social media. I will be eternally grateful.

I'm going to wash off the salesman dust and go hide under a rock now.

The marketing is one of the worst parts of publishing a book. Congrats on your upcoming book release, though!
ReplyDeleteThanks Cherie. It's totally the worst!
DeleteYeah, I'm not a marketing guru, but I love your images. Here's wishing you steady nerves and epic sales.
ReplyDeleteThanks Crystal! :-D
DeleteI fear marketing, but I guess we have no choice. I love your cover! Good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks Tonja. The cover is pretty fantastic, the work of Jenny Z. at Seedlings Design Studio, http://www.seedlingsonline.com. She totally gets me.
DeleteCongratulations!
ReplyDeleteI know how you feel. Even with my publisher doing a lot of marketing, I still dreaded doing my share. I can't even remember the last time I mentioned one of my books in a blog post...
Thanks Alex. Even on social media it's tough. :-\
